When to estimate a Saudi end-of-service award

  • An expatriate employee in Riyadh checking what to expect before resigning after six years with the same company.
  • An HR officer cross-checking a final settlement for an employee whose fixed-term contract has ended.
  • A worker comparing resigning now with resigning after reaching ten years of service, when the full award applies.
  • A small business owner setting aside money for the end-of-service liability of each employee.

How this calculator works

The estimate uses the last monthly wage: half a month for each of the first five service years and one month for each later year. A voluntary resignation applies the stated Article 85 service thresholds.

Example

Enter a SAR 10,000 final wage and six completed years for a standard termination to see the statutory baseline before any contractual additions or deductions.

Saudi End-of-Service Calculator: frequently asked questions

How is end-of-service pay calculated in Saudi Arabia?

Under Article 84 of the Saudi Labor Law, the award is half a month's wage for each of the first five years of service and one month's wage for each year after that. Extra months are counted proportionally, so 6 years at 10,000 SAR gives 35,000 SAR.

How much end-of-service do I get if I resign?

It depends on your service under Article 85: nothing below 2 years, one third of the award from 2 to 5 years, two thirds from over 5 to under 10 years, and the full award at 10 years or more. The calculator applies these cuts when you choose Voluntary resignation.

Which wage should I enter?

Enter the last monthly wage figure the field asks for; the calculator multiplies exactly the amount you type. Whether allowances such as housing count depends on your contract and the law, so check them against the official source before relying on the result.

Is this result my final legal entitlement?

No. It is an estimate based on the rule published by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, linked on the page with its version and last verification date. Contract terms, deductions, disputes and exceptional cases can change the final amount, so it is not legal advice.
