How to format JSON online

JSON Formatter: frequently asked questions

Does the JSON formatter show where my JSON is invalid?

Yes. When the JSON cannot be parsed, an error appears under the Input box, and in most browsers it gives the line and column where parsing stopped. The cause is often a missing comma or quote just before that point.

Can it format JSON that has comments or trailing commas?

No. It follows the strict JSON standard, so comments, trailing commas, single-quoted strings and unquoted keys are reported as errors. Remove them, then process the JSON again.

Will Arabic text in my JSON stay readable?

Yes. Arabic and other Unicode text is kept as real characters, and escape sequences such as \u0631 are turned into the letters they stand for in the formatted output.

Is my JSON uploaded to a server?

No. Formatting runs entirely in your browser, and Rabetly does not receive or store the JSON you paste. The Input box accepts up to 200,000 characters per run.
